The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has been conducting various award ceremonies and preparatory activities to recognize media excellence.

In the Northern Region, the 6th Northern Regional Chapter of the GJA Awards was held in Tamale, where journalists such as Nadra Mohammed and Christopher Amoako received honors for reporting in sectors including water, sanitation, road safety, and energy. Abdul Wahab Yumzaa of Zaa TV was named the overall Best Journalist of the Year.

In preparation for the 30th GJA Media Awards scheduled for November 2026 in Accra, the association inaugurated a nine-member committee chaired by Kobby Asmah. This committee is tasked with conducting an independent review of 327 entries from 206 journalists to ensure the “credibility and integrity of the awards.” The upcoming ceremony will include new categories such as the New Media Platform Award and the Governor’s Economic and Financial Story of the Year Award.
