The Ghana High Commission in the United Kingdom has announced a verification and oath-taking process for PhD students sponsored by the Ghana Scholarships Authority. 

While student leaders have opposed the measure as unnecessary and discriminatory—citing existing bonds and concerns over unpaid stipends and tuition—High Commissioner Sabah Zita Benson defended the initiative. She stated that beneficiaries must comply with Ghana Scholarships Authority requirements and noted that failure to return to Ghana within two months of completing their studies could lead to liability for the reimbursement of scholarship funds.
