Ghana’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is utilizing its Virtual Asset Sandbox, established under the Virtual Asset Service Providers Act, 2025 (Act 1154), to test various digital asset activities under regulatory supervision.

Mansu Technologies Ltd, operator of the ‘Crypto Made Easy’ platform, was admitted to the sandbox to conduct virtual asset brokerage services. This admission makes Mansu one of only two companies authorized to participate in both the SEC’s sandbox and the Bank of Ghana’s regulatory sandbox.

Following this, fintech company WeWire also joined the SEC Virtual Assets Regulatory Sandbox. WeWire intends to pilot the tokenisation of trade finance instruments, such as invoices or letters of credit, using blockchain technology. The company aims to use these digital tokens to create more transparent and efficient systems for capital clearing and trade settlement, specifically to reduce costs and friction in cross-border transactions within Africa.
