The departure of Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz led to the formation of a five-member Technical Search Committee to find a new head coach, with the requirement that the successor reside in Ghana to monitor the domestic league. Additional measures include appointing Asamoah Gyan as a liaison for player and club relations and restructuring youth development pathways. As these reforms progress, the footballing community has raised concerns regarding tactical education and the utilization of local expertise. Coaches have noted that young players lack the collective tactical understanding necessary for high-level competition, emphasizing the need for improvements at the U-15 and U-17 levels. Furthermore, critics have challenged the Ghana Football Association for its preference for foreign staff, specifically citing the appointment of a Swedish interim technical lead for the Black Queens as evidence of a lack of respect for qualified local candidates. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-26: Ghana football faces criticism over coaching and tactical development Ghanaian football experts are criticizing the GFA over tactical deficiencies in youth development and the perceived marginalization of local coaches in favor of foreign technical staff. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/ghana-football-faces-criticism-over-coaching-and-tactical-development ### 2026-10-02: Ghana football undergoes reforms following Black Stars coaching changes Following poor Black Stars results and the departure of coach Carlos Queiroz, Ghana's GFA and Sports Ministry have launched reforms, including a search committee for a new coach and new player relations roles. 18 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/yaw-ampofo-ankrah-suspended-amid-world-cup-visa-investigation --- Cite as: Ghanaian football restructuring and development.
