The Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) has announced significant advancements in research funding and academic opportunities.

The institute was selected for a government-funded project worth 11 billion KRW to develop the ‘MIND’ (Medical INtelligence for Discovery, Diagnosis, and Daily care) framework. This five-year initiative, supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT, aims to integrate ‘Scientist AI’, ‘Clinician AI’, and ‘Home Doctor AI’ to advance disease mechanism analysis, diagnosis, and long-term health monitoring. The project involves collaborations with Sungkyunkwan University, Samsung Medical Center, VUNO, and Neurophet.

Additionally, GIST has opened applications for its 2027 fully funded scholarship program for international students pursuing Master’s, PhD, and integrated MS/PhD degrees. The program covers tuition, airfare, and monthly stipends across various fields, including AI Convergence, Biomedical Science and Engineering, and Semiconductor Engineering.
