In late July 2026, major Git hosting services announced a series of tooling enhancements and security patches. On 20 July, a new Terraform provider for GitHub enabled declarative configuration of repository settings, automating branch protection, vulnerability alerts, secret scanning and visibility. The same release highlighted Gitea 1.27, which fixed 45 documented vulnerabilities across identity, privilege escalation, repository protection and token misuse, urging self-hosted operators to upgrade.

Ten days later, GitLab introduced version 19.2 of its DevSecOps platform, adding AI-agent-driven automation for security reviews, dependency-scan remediation and a CLI for agent management. This update introduced the AI Gateway for the GitLab Duo Agent Platform, allowing regulated industries to run agentic AI workloads within single-tenant SaaS infrastructure to ensure data residency. New security features included the GitLab Secrets Manager for Kubernetes and Terraform, alongside bulk Static Application Security Testing (SAST) capabilities that offer agentic vulnerability resolution. Additionally, a new Flow Creator Agent was introduced to allow users to build custom agentic flows using natural language.
