Sources: 5. Developments: 2. Global food security is increasingly dependent on enhancing agricultural productivity to support a population exceeding 8.3 billion. As arable land and water resources become limited, international organizations and governments are prioritizing technological drivers such as precision agriculture, satellite monitoring, and advanced irrigation to increase production. While projections suggest a 14% growth in agricultural and fisheries production between 2025 and 2034, significant obstacles remain. Challenges include climate variability, water scarcity, and the need for large-scale application of existing innovations. To address hunger and nutritional deficits, experts emphasize the necessity of adapting digital tools—such as weather forecasting and disease monitoring—to local conditions to make them affordable and accessible to farmers. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-16: Global food security requires scaling agricultural innovation Despite having the tools to ensure food security, 645 million people faced hunger in 2025.
