Various community and health initiatives are implementing hair donation programs to support oncology patients by producing wigs.

In Caserta, Italy, the LILT provincial association launched the ‘Sentirsi belle’ (Feeling Beautiful) program during a breast cancer prevention campaign. This initiative provides wigs to address hair loss from anti-tumor therapies and offers additional services such as dermatological, nutritional, and psycho-oncological support, alongside legal and social assistance for accessing regional funds.

Similar efforts are occurring in Costa Rica and Argentina. In Palmares, Costa Rica, a solidarity campaign is organized to collect hair for FUNDESO to create wigs for breast cancer patients. Meanwhile, Argentina’s Ministry of Public Health manages a Wig Production Bank that provides custom-made wigs, maintenance, and follow-up services to patients free of charge.
