Recent reports highlight violent incidents involving former partners in Italy and Argentina.

In Bari, Italy, a man with a criminal record was arrested for the attempted murder of his ex-wife. Investigators stated the suspect allegedly doused the woman in ethyl alcohol and attempted to set her on fire. The victim survived after her sister intervened with water. Authorities noted a history of physical and psychological abuse during their cohabitation.

In Baradero, Argentina, the investigation into the attack on 53-year-old Marcela Adriana Gilbert has been upgraded to aggravated homicide, or femicide, following her death from severe burns. The suspect, identified by the initials P. R. A. W., allegedly broke into Gilbert’s residence, doused her with gasoline, and set her on fire.

Authorities noted that Gilbert had a history of reporting gender-based violence and possessed a panic button at the time of the attack. Following her death, the 27-year-old suspect remained in custody. Local residents and family members held a march in Baradero to demand justice, expressing criticism regarding the perceived inadequacy of previous police interventions despite the existence of restraining orders against the suspect.
