Sources: 3. Developments: 2. Globo has maintained a dominant position in Brazilian afternoon television, led by the program ‘Sessão Da Tarde’. However, the broadcaster has faced challenges in other time slots. In prime time, the comedy program ‘Que História é Essa, Porchat?’ experienced its lowest audience performance to date, briefly losing leadership to Record’s ‘A Fazenda’ during a direct confrontation. The program has seen a 20% decline in average viewership since its 2020 debut. In the afternoon ‘Edição Especial’ slot, the rerun of the telenovela ‘Além do Tempo’ concluded with the lowest viewership in the history of that programming block, averaging approximately 10.2 to 10.3 points. This performance fell below previous reruns like ‘Terra Nostra’, leading to speculation that afternoon audiences may prefer more conventional plots over modern themes. The broadcaster now looks to ‘Roque Santeiro’ to stabilize these ratings. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-19: Globo telenovela Além do Tempo records lowest viewership in afternoon slot The telenovela ‘Além do Tempo’ finished its rerun on Globo with the lowest viewership in the history of the ‘Edição Especial’ afternoon slot, marking a significant decline for the network. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/globo-telenovela-alm-do-tempo-records-lowest-viewership-in-afternoon-slot ### 2026-10-09: Globo maintains afternoon lead despite prime-time rating setbacks Globo maintains afternoon dominance with ‘Sessão Da Tarde’ but faced a prime-time setback as Fábio Porchat’s program hit record-low ratings and briefly lost leadership to Record. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/globo-maintains-afternoon-lead-despite-prime-time-rating-setbacks --- Cite as: Globo television viewership trends in Brazil.
