GM Defense has introduced a prototype for an Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) based on the Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD heavy-duty platform. Unveiled at the Association of the United States Army annual meeting, the cabless concept is designed for military logistics, casualty evacuation, and operating in hazardous environments.

The vehicle utilizes an internal combustion engine with a power take-off system to charge a 100-kWh to 102-kWh energy storage system, supporting silent logistics operations. It features a maximum payload capacity of approximately 3,600 to 3,629 kilograms. Autonomous functionality is provided by Scout AI’s Gx Ground Agent system, which employs a camera-based approach.

Technical capabilities include drive-by-wire controls, modular payload interfaces, and integrated defense technologies such as the Locust X3 counter-drone laser weapon and the Squarehead Discovair G2+ acoustic sensor. GM Defense aims to prepare the technology for military functional trials by June 2027.
