Goiás EC has experienced a period of declining performance in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série B. Following a 1-0 loss to Fortaleza, where the team played with ten men for most of the match, coach Mozart Santos initially praised the squad’s resilience despite the defeat.

However, the team’s form deteriorated significantly in the second half of the competition, yielding a success rate of only 36 percent during the second turn. After a 3-0 loss to Novorizontino, Mozart described the team’s attitude as the “worst of his tenure” and apologized to supporters. With the club no longer in contention for promotion and facing potential relegation, the coach has called for immediate structural planning for 2027.
