Google Android Auto users have reported various technical difficulties involving navigation, connectivity, and application compatibility. Users upgrading to the Google Pixel 11 experienced a loss of immersive navigation in Google Maps, as server-side rollout management appeared to revert new hardware to older software versions.

To address these and other issues, Google released Android Auto version 17.4. This update targets connection drops on Google Pixel and Samsung devices, compatibility problems between the Pixel 10 and Volkswagen Group vehicle systems, and a bug preventing Spotify from launching on certain displays.

Regarding the Spotify error, users had previously encountered a “Spotify is not responding” message. While manual workarounds like clearing caches were inconsistent, Google confirmed a patch is being distributed via updates to restore normal functionality.

Version 17.4 specifically aims to resolve bugs found in previous versions, such as 17.1, 17.2, and 17.3, including frozen images and audio interruptions. To ensure stability, Google recommends that users check the Google Play Store for the gradual rollout and use certified USB cables shorter than one meter, while also ensuring that Android systems and Google Play Services are fully up to date.
