French technical death metal band Gorod released their eighth studio album, ‘The Ember Gone’, on August 28, 2026, through Base Productions and Season of Mist. 

The album represents a stylistic shift for the group, moving from pure technicality toward a sound that incorporates atmosphere, groove, melody, and emotion. Frontman Julien Deyres noted the inclusion of African rhythms and clean vocals. Thematically, the record explores existential anxiety, consumerism, and environmental collapse, influenced by the ‘apocalyptic’ experience of megafires in the Bordeaux region.

Produced by guitarist Mathieu Pascal at Bud Studio, the eight-track record is supported by promotional photography featuring the scorched landscapes of the Dune du Pyla. Following the release, the band is scheduled to begin a European and UK tour alongside Allegaeon on September 4.
