Gram Parsons, a musician credited with establishing the country-rock genre through his work with The Byrds and the Flying Burrito Brothers, died in 1973 at age 26 from a drug and alcohol overdose. His death was marked by controversy when his tour manager stole his body from Los Angeles International Airport during transport to Louisiana.

In recognition of his influence, a tribute concert titled ‘A Song for Gram’ is scheduled for November 11 at The Troubadour in Los Angeles. The event, which features artists such as Emmylou Harris and Elvis Costello, precedes Parsons’ posthumous induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on November 14. The concert will benefit the Friendly House Foundation and Backline, organizations providing addiction and mental health resources.
