In Larissa, the Association of Thessalian Enterprises and Industries (STEV) and the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV) held a seminar focused on the practical applications of AI in business operations. Regional Governor Dimitris Kouretas emphasized the importance of private sector partnerships with universities, suggesting AI should serve as a tool to assist professionals rather than replace them. Building on these themes, Thessaloniki is scheduled to host a national forum titled ‘Innovation & AI: Where are we? What needs to be done’ in November 2026. Organized by several research and science communication entities, the event aims to address Greece’s technological transformation. The dialogue intends to tackle the gap between scientific knowledge and entrepreneurship, noting that while R&D spending reached €3.66 billion in 2024, patent applications remain significantly lower than the EU average. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-20: Thessaloniki to host national dialogue on innovation and AI Thessaloniki will host a national forum on November 24, 2026, to discuss Greece's innovation and AI strategies, addressing the gap between scientific research and economic value. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/thessaloniki-to-host-national-dialogue-on-innovation-and-ai ### 2026-09-24: Thessaly business leaders discuss AI applications in Larissa The Association of Thessalian Enterprises and Industries and SEV hosted an event in Larissa exploring the practical applications of Artificial Intelligence for business growth and productivity. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/thessaly-business-leaders-discuss-ai-applications-in-larissa --- Cite as: Greek business and innovation dialogue on AI.
