The Athens Chamber of Crafts and Trades (BEA) initiated discussions regarding the shortage of specialized technicians and the potential loss of professional expertise in Greece. During a forum titled ‘MADE IN GREECE - The Genealogy of Expertise’, BEA President Konstantinos Damigos argued that technical professions must become a ‘conscious choice and not a solution of necessity’, advocating for better pay, professional development, and improved vocational guidance in schools.

Building on these efforts to address sector challenges, the Chambers of Crafts and Trades of Athens, Thessaloniki, and Piraeus announced the first joint national conference, ‘The Craftsmanship of Tomorrow: From Vision to Practice’. Scheduled for October 12, the conference aims to facilitate dialogue between government, academia, and the banking sector. Discussions are expected to cover digital transformation, innovation, financing, and technical vocational training to support the Greek manufacturing sector.
