In July 2026 the Western Greece regional governor approved €4.8 million of contracts to carry out flood‑prevention works on the Evinos and Achelous rivers. The contracts, signed on 13 July by Governor Nektarios Pharmakis, fund the removal of burned debris, rock‑fill bank reinforcement, repair of wire‑mesh structures and the opening of spillway channels to protect villages such as Pentalofo, Neochori and Katohi and safeguard key road sections.

Later that month the national government published Joint Ministerial Decision 57114, which formally delineates properties damaged by the 20 August 2024 flood in Agrinio and lists other recent flood events (Zakynthos 2023, Ioannina 2024, Pyrgos 2024, West Malia 2025, Argostoli 2025). The decree creates a legal framework for activating support procedures and repair funding for affected residents.

On 4 August the Region of Western Greece expanded the effort to Achaia, approving €4 million of flood‑prevention works funded by the Regional Development Programme. Projects will reinforce the riverbeds of the Meilichos, Karava, Girokomeio, Malamouti, Tsoukaleika and Vrachnaiki streams with small dams, concrete walls, sediment‑catching structures and bridge‑foundation protection, covering roughly 32 km of waterways. Together, the infrastructure contracts and the administrative decree illustrate a coordinated, multi‑regional response to improve resilience against flooding in areas impacted by the 2025 wildfires.
