# Greek municipalities honor former local officials

Greek municipal councils have held sessions to honor the passing of former local government officials. 

In Chalkida, the Municipal Council recognized the service of Georgios Chalastaras, a former Municipal Councilor for the Nea Artaki municipal unit who had served since 2003. The council passed a resolution of condolence and scheduled a minute of silence. 

In the Municipality of Minos Pediada, officials met to honor Giannis Chalkiadakis, a former Deputy Mayor and community leader. The council voted to name a street in his hometown of Pano Kastelliana ‘Ioannis Chalkiadakis Street’ and resolved to send a delegation to his funeral.
