Sources: 26. Developments: 2. A televised dispute occurred between New Democracy MP Makarios Lazaridis and PASOK MP Nadia Giannakopoulou during an ANT1 broadcast. The confrontation began when Lazaridis made allegations regarding the OPEKEPE scandal, claiming Giannakopoulou had approached him to inquire about investigative committee revelations. Giannakopoulou denied the claims, calling them ‘fabricated lies’ and a ‘vile personal attack.’ Following the incident, Lazaridis issued a public apology on social media, stating the debate had exceeded the bounds of political discourse. PASOK condemned the event as ‘toxic political speech’ and held the leadership of New Democracy and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis responsible, while Giannakopoulou indicated she would pursue legal action. Media presenter Natalia Germanou subsequently criticized Lazaridis for his conduct during her program ‘Kalitera De Ginetai.’ She described his behavior as ‘shameful,’ noting that personal and family-based attacks—such as Lazaridis’s suggestion that Giannakopoulou’s position was due to her father—are unacceptable for political opponents and cause public revulsion. Germanou argued that such conduct lowers the level of political discourse and emphasized that political defense should focus on policy rather than personal insults. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-24: Natalia Germanou discusses TV competition and political conduct Natalia Germanou addressed television competition, praising Anastasia Giamali, and condemned MP Makarios Lazaridis for personal attacks against a political opponent. 10 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/natalia-germanou-condemns-makarios-lazaridis-after-televised-confrontation ### 2026-10-21: Greek MPs engage in heated televised confrontation New Democracy MP Makarios Lazaridis and PASOK MP Nadia Giannakopoulou engaged in a heated televised debate, leading to allegations of falsehoods, emotional distress, and threats of legal action. 18 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/greek-mps-engage-in-heated-televised-confrontation --- Cite as: Greek political confrontation between New Democracy and PAS0.
