Greece is experiencing various transportation disruptions and infrastructure projects across its rail and metro networks.

In the Patras region, Hellenic Train suspended services on the Patra-Kaminia section from late August through September 2026 to facilitate infrastructure works by Greek Railways (OSE). Replacement bus services were implemented to connect passengers with existing suburban rail lines.

In Athens, Metro Line 3 is undergoing temporary service adjustments due to track replacement works between Eleonas and Monastiraki. From September 7 through September 10, the Eleonas, Kerameikos, and Monastiraki stations are scheduled to close early at 21:40, which is two and a half hours before their standard closing time. During these hours, train traffic will operate in two sections: between the Dimotiko Theatro – Egaleo stations and the Syntagma – Doukissa Plakentia – Airport stations. For airport travelers, the last full-route trains depart Dimotiko Theatro at 21:06 and the Airport at 21:10. After the 21:40 closure, Syntagma will serve as the terminus for airport-bound and incoming airport trains. To maintain connectivity, OASA is deploying a temporary bus line, X24, running between Syntagma and Egaleo stations. This bus service will pass through all closed stations to maintain connectivity during the night hours. Specific departures from Syntagma to the airport during these work hours are scheduled for 22:02, 22:38, and 23:14.

Additionally, restoration efforts continue on the Athens–Thessaloniki railway axis following storm damage. While double-track construction is complete, full service recovery is delayed by ongoing signaling tests, electrification works scheduled through late October, and pending certification for the ETCS system. Hellenic Train currently operates only two service pairs on this route.
