Greece has seen recent efforts to bolster regional firefighting and civil protection capabilities through various equipment donations and procurement programs.

In July, the Archdiocese of America donated a new firefighting vehicle to the Volunteer Fire Brigade of Penteli. During a blessing ceremony, Archbishop Elpidophoros noted that protecting nature is a “moral duty” and an “expression of love for humanity.”

By August, the Municipality of Meteora received three 4x4 pick-up vehicles equipped with firefighting gear. This delivery is part of the ‘Thessaly 2021-2027’ program, which has allocated 400,000 euros for the procurement of six vehicles to strengthen regional emergency response.
