Recent events in Greece have highlighted efforts to document and preserve regional cultural heritage through new publications.

In Kozani, a new book titled ‘Cultural Associations of Kozani – Folklore & Tradition’ was presented at the local Folklore Museum. Published by Parembasi Editions, the work uses texts and photography to document the activities of cultural associations and local traditions, such as the ‘Fanous’ lanterns, to ensure customs are preserved for future generations.

In Kefalos, Kos, sociologist Spyros Georgiou presented ‘Three Paralogoi from Kefalos of Kos’. This work examines oral traditions through ‘paralogoi’—multi-stanza narrative folk songs that recount dramatic stories from pre-revolutionary Greece. The publication explores social themes, family dynamics, and class conflicts to help connect younger generations to their local roots.
