In Kastoria, the program utilized welcoming days, experiential activities, and solidarity initiatives involving older students to support newcomers. In Xiromero, workshops centered on communication, social boundaries, and mutual respect to establish a safe learning environment through shared responsibility. Concurrently, political advocacy has emerged regarding the compensation of educators within the system. PASOK-Movement for Change MP Stavros Michailidis has formally requested that the Greek Parliament include SDE teachers in a rent reimbursement measure. While these educators are permanent primary or secondary staff seconded to the schools, they are currently excluded from the financial support available to other colleagues. Michailidis argued that this exclusion constitutes unfair treatment, particularly for those facing housing burdens in island regions. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-16: Greek MP seeks rent reimbursement for Second Chance Schools teachers Greek MP Stavros Michailidis is calling for the inclusion of Second Chance Schools teachers in a rent reimbursement program, citing unfair exclusion from the financial support measure. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/greek-mp-seeks-rent-reimbursement-for-second-chance-schools-teachers ### 2026-10-14: Second Chance Schools in Greece host community integration events Second Chance Schools in Kastoria and Xiromero have commenced their academic terms with community integration activities, workshops on communication, and student solidarity initiatives. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/second-chance-schools-in-greece-host-community-integration-events --- Cite as: Greek Second Chance Schools operations and teacher advocacy.
