In August 2026, Guinea initiated efforts to reform its healthcare legal framework. The Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene organized a workshop in Kindia to review a draft law concerning the special status of health personnel and university hospital staff. This initiative sought to establish eleven implementing texts to secure the rights of healthcare workers and enhance human capital within the national health system.

Concurrently, the Collective of Guinean Specialist and Specializing Doctors (COMEG) has pressured the government to integrate more than 400 specialist doctors into the public service. COMEG President Dr. Ousmane Coulibaly noted that the failure to recruit these specialists has impacted population access to quality care. To address domestic expertise gaps, the Collective proposed a partnership with the Turkish entity Médical Parc to focus on training local specialists and reducing the need for medical evacuations abroad.
