In Guinea, the media regulator Haute Autorité de la Communication (HAC) issued a nationwide ban on the international news channel France 24. The ban, which covers satellite, cable, mobile applications, websites, and social media, follows an editorial dispute regarding a broadcast on September 14, 2026. 

According to the HAC, the channel used an ‘inaccurate qualifier’ concerning President Mamadi Doumbouya, specifically referring to him as a ‘president putschiste’. While France 24 Director Vanessa Burggraf stated the error was ‘immediately recognized and corrected’ and was ‘devoid of any intention to disrespect’ Guinean institutions, the HAC characterized the channel’s response as a ‘manifest, deliberate and characterized’ defiance of authority and a violation of sovereignty. As part of the sanctions, the HAC has also revoked the press accreditations of all France 24 correspondents and collaborators within the country.
