The Guinean Football Federation (FEGUIFOOT) has confirmed that its extraordinary elective general assembly will be held on October 27, 2026, in Conakry. The announcement was made by Secretary General Ibrahima Blasco Barry.

As the election approaches, the field of candidates has solidified. Ibrahima Kalil Kaba, president of Karifamoriah FC, remains a prominent contender with official support from AS Kaloum. Meanwhile, former federation president Antonio Souaré, who also serves as Chairman of the Board of Horoya AC, has officially announced his bid. 

In an interview with the Ivorian channel La3, Souaré described the current state of Guinean football as difficult and stated his intention to ‘save’ the sport and reconstruct what he believes has been destroyed. He argued that resolving governance crises may require political involvement, specifically calling for the intervention of the Head of State to foster consensus and secure necessary resources.

Amidst these developments, sports consultant Thierno Saïdou Diakité has urged statutory members to elect a leader capable of acting as both a manager and a unifier to end the decade of institutional instability and internal conflict that has frequently required intervention from FIFA and CAF.
