A murder suspect, Ramanuj Goswami, died in Guwahati, Assam, after jumping from a moving police vehicle near Narkasur Hill. Goswami had surrendered and confessed to the murder and decapitation of his wife, Riya Talukdar. 

Following a medical examination at Guwahati Medical College and Hospital, officers were transporting him back to the Hatigaon police station when the incident occurred. Goswami fell into a deep ravine, sustaining severe head injuries. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. A magisterial inquiry has been initiated to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death in custody.
