Guyana is restructuring its national youth sporting calendar to prepare for hosting the 54th edition of the CARIFTA Track and Field Championships in 2027.

To align with the regional games scheduled for Easter 2027, the Ministry of Education has rescheduled the Interschools Games to October. This will lead into the National Secondary School Championship Games, set for March 3–5, 2027, at the Bayrock facility in Linden.

The Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG) aims to field a larger contingent of approximately 60 athletes. To support this goal, the AAG has implemented a preparation plan featuring bi-monthly training camps beginning in September.
