Sources: 10. Developments: 3. Haiti’s Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) has undergone a leadership transition to manage upcoming electoral operations. Peterson Pierre-Louis, a former secretary general representing the reformed religious sector, has been appointed president of the CEP. Pierre-Louis replaces Jacques Desrosiers, who had led the institution since October 2025. To ensure continuity, Desrosiers will remain with the council in an advisory capacity as an electoral counselor. The new executive bureau consists of Jaccéus Joseph as vice-president, Nemrod Sanon as secretary general, and Schnaïda Adély as treasurer. On September 24, 2026, Pierre-Louis was officially installed as president during a ceremony in Pétion-Ville attended by state representatives, the diplomatic corps, political parties, and civil society. In his inaugural address, Pierre-Louis emphasized the need for “responsibility, dialogue, and the professionalization of the electoral administration.” He called for collective participation from political parties, the media, and international partners to ensure institutional credibility. Moving forward, Pierre-Louis indicated plans to evaluate the administration’s functioning and current contracts to address existing weaknesses. The restructuring aims to maintain momentum for technical and administrative tasks, including voter and candidate registration, amid ongoing debates regarding the independence of the CEP. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-25: Peterson Pierre-Louis installed as president of Haiti's CEP Peterson Pierre-Louis has been installed as president of Haiti’s Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), leading a reorganized executive bureau to oversee upcoming electoral processes. 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/peterson-pierre-louis-installed-as-president-of-haitis-cep ### 2026-09-12: Peterson Pierre-Louis appointed president of Haiti's CEP Peterson Pierre-Louis has been appointed president of Haiti's Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), succeeding Jacques Desrosiers, who will remain as an advisor to ensure electoral continuity. 5 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/peterson-pierre-louis-appointed-president-of-haitis-cep ### 2026-09-09: Peterson Pierre-Louis named president of Haiti's Provisional Electoral Council Haiti's Provisional Electoral Council has appointed Peterson Pierre-Louis as president, replacing Jacques Desrosiers amid ongoing preparations for upcoming national elections. 5 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/peterson-pierre-louis-named-president-of-haitis-provisional-electoral-council --- Cite as: Haiti Provisional Electoral Council leadership change.
