Hajduk Split has experienced a period of competitive challenges and roster instability in the SuperSport HNL. Following a 3-0 defeat to HNK Rijeka in the Adriatic Derby, Hajduk Split suffered a significant blow when defensive midfielder Adrion Pajaziti sustained a hamstring tear. Pajaziti was expected to be sidelined for approximately three weeks, impacting his availability for key fixtures. In a subsequent high-stakes derby against Dinamo Zagreb, Hajduk Split competed for the top of the league table. The match, held at Poljud, saw Hajduk equalize via an own goal by McKenna. Hajduk entered this fixture facing multiple roster absences, including Pajaziti, Brajković, and Ivišić.

In a later encounter at Poljud Stadium, Hajduk Split secured a 2-1 comeback victory against Dinamo Zagreb despite extreme weather conditions. Heavy rain made the pitch nearly unplayable and caused water to leak through the stadium roof. While Dion Drena Beljo initially gave Dinamo the lead in the 21st minute, Hajduk equalized three minutes later through another Scott McKenna own goal. Bamba Sanjang scored the decisive goal in the 59th minute. The match drew scrutiny regarding weather protocols after referee Igor Pajač briefly considered suspending play in the 93rd minute due to the saturated pitch. This victory, achieved amidst thunderstorms and a flooded pitch, temporarily moves Hajduk to the top of the HNL standings with 19 points, holding a three-point lead over Osijek and Dinamo, though both trailing teams have a game in hand. The win represents a significant turnaround for manager Gonzalo Garcia, who had previously faced criticism from supporters. The match was also marked by high tension, including fan pyrotechnics and a controversial tackle by Ron Raci on Lukas Kačavenda that drew criticism from former referee Bruno Marić.
