The 37th Hamburg International Queer Film Festival (HIQFF) is scheduled for October 13 to 18, 2026. Operating under the theme ‘Remember & Resist’, the festival aims to focus on queer cultural memory and resistance in response to budget cuts, declining support for democratic projects, and rising hostility toward LGBTQ+ individuals.

The event will feature feature films, documentaries, and short films across several Hamburg cinemas. Programming includes the German premiere of ‘Miss Carbón’, a film inspired by the true story of Carla ‘Carlita’ Rodríguez. Additionally, the festival will host an educational program titled ‘HIQFF@school – Queer Education’ on October 14 and 15, providing age-appropriate screenings for local school classes on topics such as identity, diversity, and puberty.
