Hanoi authorities are conducting public consultations regarding a proposal to adjust administrative boundaries with Phu Tho province. The plan involves transferring approximately 4,006 hectares of natural area from Phu Tho to Hanoi, including 2,529.38 hectares within Ba Vi National Park and 1,477 hectares of its buffer zone.

The adjustment aims to unify the management of Ba Vi National Park and enhance regional connectivity. If approved, the move would integrate Thinh Minh, Luong Son, and Ky Son from Phu Tho into Hanoi’s Ba Vi and Yen Xuan communes. While the number of administrative units and their names would remain unchanged, the proposal is expected to increase Hanoi’s total natural area by approximately 1.19%.

Recent consultation results conducted between October 21 and October 25, 2026, indicate strong resident support for the proposal. In Ba Vi commune, 94.37% of households approved the plan, while Yen Bai commune recorded 99.78% approval and Tay Phuong commune saw 98.59% support. In the Phu Tho areas of Thinh Minh, Luong Son, and Ky Son, the approval rate in My Duc commune was 88.97%. The consultation process utilized direct household voting to ensure transparency and objectivity.

Experts have noted that the border region holds significant resources linked to the Ba Vi National Park complex. Dr. Dao Ngoc Nghiem suggested that integration should align with Hanoi’s vision of becoming a green city, while Professor Dang Hung Vo noted the adjustment could provide additional resources and new development opportunities for the receiving areas.
