# Havlíčkův Brod bridge construction for nuclear transport

Construction has commenced on a new bridge in Havlíčkův Brod designed to support the transport of oversized components for the Dukovany nuclear power plant. The project, overseen by the Road and Motorway Directorate (ŘSD), has entered the foundation stage with the drilling of over 70 large-diameter pilot piles. 

The new structure is engineered to carry loads up to 900 tonnes. Following the demolition of the previous bridge in mid-May, the general contractor, Strabag, is managing the works, which are expected to allow for first traffic during the second half of next year.
