HBO Max announced the upcoming release of a three-episode docuseries titled ‘Tragedia en el Estadio Corregidora’ (Tragedy at Corregidora Stadium). The production reconstructs the violent clashes that occurred on March 5, 2022, during a football match between Querétaro and Atlas.

The series utilizes archival footage and testimonies from victims, witnesses, journalists, and authorities to examine security failures and the coordination between public and private security forces. It also addresses contradictions regarding official government reports, which previously suggested the violence was spontaneous.

Following its release, the documentary features perspectives from various figures, including Querétaro Governor Mauricio Kuri and journalists such as Óscar Balderas and Marion Reimers. The project aims to analyze the repercussions of the incident and foster discussions on preventing similar occurrences in stadiums.

Recent analysis of the docuseries notes that the violence erupted during the 62nd minute of the match, causing spectators to flee onto the pitch. While the production provides a platform for those physically and emotionally affected, some critiques suggest the series leans into ‘sensationalism and unverified hypotheses regarding political sabotage or hidden deaths,’ rather than focusing strictly on institutional accountability.
