Universitario de Deportes has officially finalized the replacement of Héctor Cúper with Fabián Bustos. Following the termination of Cúper’s contract after a four-month tenure marked by inconsistency in the Torneo Clausura, the club has secured Bustos on a contract extending through December 2027.

Bustos, who previously led the club to a national championship in 2024, will be supported by a coaching staff including assistants Edgardo Adinolfi and Jonathan Mejía, with Marcos Conenna serving as the physical trainer.

While Piero Alva continues to serve as interim manager during the international break, Bustos is expected to begin training with the professional squad on October 1. However, due to a three-match suspension imposed by the Peruvian Football Federation, his competitive debut is projected for matchday 14 against Sport Boys.
