The inaugural Head Trip 2026 festival at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, faced significant disruptions due to Tropical Storm Rachel. On the opening night, lightning risks and heavy rain forced organizers to issue an emergency alert and suspend performances around 9:30 p.m., instructing attendees to seek shelter.

During the weather event, a power shutdown occurred during a performance by Fisher and Chris Lake, which prevented headliner Calvin Harris from taking the stage. Despite the sudden evacuation, festival management was noted for an organized response; safety teams and staff utilized on-site screens and social media to direct crowds, which helped avoid the “typical chaos or traffic bottlenecks” often associated with large-scale weather disruptions.

In response to the weather-related shutdown, organizers updated the schedule for the following day. This included moving Calvin Harris to an earlier slot and adding him to the Sunday lineup to compensate for the interruptions. The revised schedule allowed for postponed performances, with music expected to continue into Monday morning, despite ongoing wind advisories for the Coachella Valley.
