In Diyarbakır, the second hearing of the trial regarding the murder of 19-year-old Helin Eren has concluded. The defendant, Siyabent Şeker, is accused of killing Eren, who was three months pregnant, on July 24, 2025.

The prosecution is seeking an aggravated life sentence for the charge of intentional murder against a woman. While the victim's family lawyer requested the court evaluate the crime as “premeditated murder involving the infliction of intense suffering,” the defendant claimed he fired his unlicensed weapon without aiming because he believed he was being ambushed.
