Hellas Verona has experienced mixed results in Serie BKT matches during the 2026/27 season, driven largely by the performance of striker Daniel Mosquera.

In late September, Mosquera helped Verona secure a 2-1 comeback victory against Vicenza in the Veneto derby. Entering the match as a substitute, Mosquera scored two goals in quick succession to overturn a deficit, an achievement he described as a “liberation” following a previous injury and goal drought.

By mid-October, Verona faced different challenges in a match against Catanzaro at the Bentegodi stadium. Although Mosquera again scored twice to put Verona ahead—marking his third consecutive league brace—the team conceded a late penalty when Emanuele Pecorino converted a foul by Calabrese. Catanzaro had taken an early lead through Antonio Candela in the 11th minute, but Mosquera’s goals in the 37th and 67th minutes leveled the score before the 75th-minute penalty resulted in a 2-2 draw.

Following the match, Verona manager Marco Baroni expressed frustration regarding defensive lapses and bad luck. Despite dominating statistically with 25 shots compared to Catanzaro’s 7, the team struggled to secure a win. The result leaves Verona with seven points from eight matches. Concerns remain regarding the team’s defensive consistency and their ability to maintain control, particularly as Verona was forced to finish the match with ten men following an injury to Cerbone. Catanzaro midfielder Edoardo Iannoni described the result as “absurd” given the opportunities presented. Verona’s inability to defend leads continues to draw criticism regarding their pursuit of promotion to Serie A.
