Historical sites and monuments across Poland are undergoing various stages of restoration and modernization. In early August, projects were highlighted at the 17th-century Bishop’s Palace in Kielce, involving a seven-month renovation of its walls to halt degradation, and the refurbishment of the Jagiellonian Hall at Collegium Maius in Krakow, which includes the conservation of polychromes and ceiling restoration.

By late August, the scope of heritage work expanded to include major castle renovations involving multi-year closures. Kwidzyn Castle is set to close in September for a renovation costing over 64 million PLN, funded by the EU FENIKS program and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. Managed by the Malbork Castle Museum, the project includes infrastructure modernization, accessibility improvements, and the creation of five new permanent exhibitions.

In Olsztyn, the Warmian Chapter Castle, once associated with Nicolaus Copernicus, is scheduled to close for a major three-year renovation starting September 14, 2026. Supported by the Phoenix Program, this multi-million zloty investment aims to modernize the facility to meet contemporary accessibility and safety standards. The scope includes structural and conservation repairs to the Baroque wing, tower, facades, and defensive walls, as well as modernizing utility installations. During this period, portions of the museum’s collections will be displayed at alternative locations within the city.

Additionally, the Royal Castle in Warsaw has commenced an extensive roof renovation project costing approximately 5.9 million PLN. This work, which began in July, covers five wings and three towers and is expected to conclude by December 15, 2027, while the museum remains open to the public.
