Hermoupolis, Greece, is hosting various cultural events to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the city’s founding. 

The 14th Syros Jazz Festival is being held under the theme ‘Dialogues’, featuring musical performances at the Apollo Theatre, film screenings, and workshops. The festival also includes a ‘Jazz on Canvas’ exhibition by artist Michalis Kountouris at the Plastico Gallery.

In addition to the festival, a symposium titled ‘Hermoupolis 200 Years of Music’ is scheduled for September 12, 2026. Organized by the Athens Conservatory Research and Documentation Center and the General State Archives, the symposium will examine the city’s 19th-century musical history and the role of the Apollo Theatre. This will be accompanied by an exhibition of historical documents, including scores and librettos, from September 14 to 25, 2026.
