As part of the Türkiye Culture Route Festival, the Sanat Melikgazi art center hosted the ‘Carried Memory of Culture: Heybe Exhibition’. Curated by Berna and Lütfi Özden, the collection featured approximately 80 traditional saddlebags, or ‘heybes’, sourced from various provinces including Çanakkale, Balıkesir, Manisa, Konya, and Sivas.

The artifacts, some dating back 110 to 120 years, include dowry, riding, and specialized children’s saddlebags. Berna Özden noted that these textiles were historically utilized along migration routes from Central Asia to Anatolia. Melikgazi Mayor Mustafa Palancıoğlu highlighted the importance of preserving these handmade items as essential links to cultural history and Islamic heritage.
