A US Afghanistan War Commission delegation met with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, to review US military, strategic, and diplomatic involvement in Afghanistan between June 2001 and August 2021. During the meeting, the commission acknowledged Pakistan’s contributions to the conflict, while Field Marshal Munir emphasized that any evaluation of the war must include regional perspectives and Pakistan’s counter-terrorism experience.

Following this, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres met with Field Marshal Munir in Rawalpindi to discuss international peace and regional security.
