In mid-October 2026, the city of Eger, Hungary, held several community and historical events. Initial programming included educational tours of the Felsővárosi Heating Plant and science demonstrations for families.

Following these events, the city held commemorations for the 474th anniversary of the 1552 defense of Eger Castle against Ottoman forces. These activities included wreath-laying ceremonies to honor the castle defenders and the presentation of the ‘Dobó Sword’ award to actor Péter Tunyogi. A significant highlight of the commemorations was the unveiling of a restored 126-year-old Saint Stephen statue at the cathedral.
