The British soap opera Hollyoaks has introduced new narrative arcs involving criminal activity and grooming. One storyline follows Gemma Johnson, who is depicted running a criminal empire involving illegal activities and crypto wallets, leading to a police warrant and the involvement of an undercover officer named Jenson.

A separate storyline focuses on the grooming of a vulnerable teenager, Dee Dee Hutchinson, by school counselor Abigail Matthews. Actor Chloe Atkinson described these developments as ‘intense and scary’.

As the plot progresses, Abigail faces a safeguarding meeting with headteacher Nancy Osborne following allegations made by Beth Keane. During the meeting, Abigail becomes defensive, which increases suspicion regarding her behavior toward Dee Dee.
