In September 2026, authorities in Columbia County, Florida, investigated two separate homicides involving young women that occurred within a 12-hour window near Lake City.

In the first incident, deputies discovered 16-year-old Ashia La Shai Moore dead from a gunshot wound during a welfare check at an apartment on U.S. Highway 441 South. Authorities noted Moore was seven months pregnant. Her 17-year-old boyfriend, Dominique Santonio Hill, was arrested and charged with tampering with evidence.

Approximately 12 hours later, deputies responded to a 911 call at a residence on Northwest Moore Road, where they found 21-year-old Nicole Lopez dead following an alleged domestic dispute. Her boyfriend, 19-year-old Isaiah Campbell, was arrested in connection with that incident.
