In Honduras, Walter Raúl Miranda Sabio, a magistrate of the Supreme Court of Justice and coordinator of the Criminal Chamber, has requested an increased budget to establish specialized courts. These courts are intended to address rising rates of femicide and violence against women across all 18 departments of the country.

Miranda Sabio also noted judicial progress made since 2023 through the ‘Mesa de Desinternamiento’. This collaborative effort involving the Public Ministry, the Attorney General’s Office, and the National Penitentiary Institute aims to improve health services and documentation for incarcerated individuals, including facilitating arrangements for terminally ill inmates.
