Criticism has emerged regarding the selection criteria and tactical management of the Honduran national football team. Former players and coaches, including Milton Jocón Reyes and Dani Turcios, have questioned the coaching staff’s reliance on players based abroad over local Liga Nacional talent, as well as specific tactical deployments under coach José Molina.

In response to disputes regarding player call-ups, Francis Hernández, sports director of the Honduran Football Federation, clarified that certain players from clubs like Olancho FC are currently part of a scouting and pre-selection process for upcoming FIFA dates, though final selection is not guaranteed. Amidst these administrative discussions, younger players such as striker Dereck Moncada have expressed commitment to the team’s goal of qualifying for the Gold Cup.
