Music features have explored the intersection of horror themes and various musical genres, specifically focusing on songs and albums designed to evoke fear or a Halloween atmosphere.

Initial coverage highlighted rankings of the scariest songs of all time, such as Alice Cooper’s ‘Welcome To My Nightmare’ and Mike Oldfield’s ‘Tubular Bells.’ Discussions also included heavy metal and hard rock albums like Ice Nine Kills’ ‘The Silver Scream,’ which draws inspiration from horror films.

Subsequent reporting shifted toward a more specific analysis of metal concept albums. This evaluation distinguished between albums that use storytelling for thematic fun and those that aim to provide a truly unnerving sonic and conceptual experience. While works by Queensrÿche and Dream Theater were noted for unsettling themes, they were categorized as not providing a fully petrifying sonic experience compared to other selections.
