Huawei and HP Inc. have entered into a multi-year, global patent cross-licensing agreement concerning wireless connectivity technologies. The deal provides HP with access to Huawei’s intellectual property, including the latest Wi-Fi 7 standard, for use in computers and peripherals. In return, Huawei receives access to certain patents held by the American manufacturer.

The agreement follows previous legal disputes, including a lawsuit filed by Huawei in August 2025 regarding alleged unauthorized use of Wi-Fi 6 technology. HP has characterized the arrangement as a “routine licensing arrangement for standard-essential patents” rather than a broader strategic partnership, noting that it does not use Huawei components in its supply chain.

While Huawei has been on the US Entity List since 2019, the licensing deal is not prohibited by current US trade restrictions. The financial terms of the agreement have not been disclosed.
